Why I Chose a Paleo Lifestyle

People often ask me what I eat in the Paleo lifestyle. In other words, they want to know how is the food. Before I answer, let me just say that I've incorporated many different eating styles - some for weight loss and some optimizing my general health. I've been vegan (veggies only with and without dairy), vegetarian (no meat with and without dairy), pescetarian (fish-based), sugar-free, gluten-free, no and low-carb.

For me, Paleo was the easiest to incorporate into what I was doing for a few reasons.
Paleo, focuses on natural, minimally processed lean proteins, fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. Before Paleo, I was on a sugar-free, gluten-free, low carb regimen that included eliminating any other foods that I couldn't not digest. I was restructuring my eating habits to accommodate my digestive problems and stumbled across a book called The Primal BluePrint.

It described what I now know to be a Paleo lifestyle. The Paleo lifestyle just happened to fit me to a tee and was the easiest eating regimen I'd ever been on. It also gave me the fastest

As it turns out, I could already eat most fruits and veggies with no problems. I re-focused on lean proteins and eggs and beans for proteins which I do digest well. After much thought and the realization that lots of beans were just not a favorite of my digestive system, I leave out beans. As it turns out, beans are not part of strict Paleo routines but that many folks add in for proteins. I leave out all types of breads which don't digest well and use nuts very sparingly which are a little too fatty for my system anyhow.

In summary, I must say that it took me YEARS to arrive at the diet and eating healthy lifestyle that works for me. While I do enjoy sweets and junk food occasionally (I'm only human), I follow a Paleo lifestyle about 95% of the time.

To this end, I have decided to provide information for others to find their own eating healthy lifestyle. Read this post on my new project to learn more about how I plan to help you answer this question.
